  • London. May 24/62. [1962] Visited Chelsea flower show where I found the commercial exhibits quite up to all its reports I have heard over the years. The only aspect I found poor was rock gardens. Among the most noteworthy plants of interest to me I saw Rockery: Bellis [underlined] Rob Roy - a deep red minitaure Dianthus [underlined] grenadier Linum [underlined] Gemmil's [Gemmell's] hybrid Tulipa [underlined] aculiata [acuminata?] [underlined] " [Tulipa - underlined] clusiana [underlined] Gaultheria procumbens Azaleas [underlined]:- Yellows:- Mollis type Klondyke - brilliant yellow " " " [Mollis type Klondyke] Golden Yellow Knop Hill Golden Oriole - tall good " [Knop Hill] Idealist Knop " [Hill] Albacore, exquisite white with gold blotch. Addy Werry - med [medium] fl. [flower] true red. Small fl. [flower] evergreen Waka Kayede palestrinum the best white in the show.
