9 mi [miles] N. [north] Aklavik. June 15/47 [1947].
Found a nest containing six eggs.
Nest set into the ground beneath
overhanging grass stems in a clearing.
55 mi [miles] N.W. [northwest] Aklavik June 25, 1947.
Found another nest containing 5 eggs.
Saw several other birds carrying
food. This sparrow is most abundant
in the stunted alders that are scattered
over the tundra hills, but nests
also down to river level in the
alder thickets.
Reindeer Station. July 11, 1947
Saw a family of bob-tailed nestlings
+ took 2 of them.
Aklavik July 21/47 [1947]
One male heard still singing but for
the most part they are now silent.
