- Whistling Swan.
55 mi [miles] N.W. [northwest] Aklavik. June 25, 1947.
Found a nest containing 4 eggs, it consisted
of a heap of dead marsh vegetation
elevated about 2 ft [feet] above water
level and about 8 ft [feet] across the base.
The 4 eggs were at the early chick
stage - no feathers. All were fertile.
Saw 2 other swan's nests in
the distance. All were built away
from the shore, with open
water all around them.

in great concern, sometimes landing
almost on top of her young
+ forcing them to dive.
