A stiff N. [North] wind made the river a bit choppy in places but we took very little water. We made camp on a big S [south] loop close to the hills. Same local. [location] June 25, 1947. In morning took our canoe onto the lakes west of camp + explored them. They are relatively shallow but have a good pop. [population] of pike so they cannot freeze to the bottom. In afternoon we climbed the tundra hills to the west. Dominant veg.
