Much of the lake has banks too steep for our purpose but we found 3 burrows we could put boxtraps in. One of these had 3 tunnels entering it + we placed 4 traps in these. It opened from a shallow pond 100 ft [feet] long + 50 ft [feet] wide grown up in Equisetum. [underlined] Took the ad [adult] [male symbol] 114 and 7 young 115-118 and 122-124 as well as the front foot of an 8th. Young taken 6 [male symbol] + 2 [female symbol]. Retook 117 50 yds [yards] from the den in another pond joined to the first by a path over dry ground. Took ad [adult] [female symbol] + another yng [young] 127 + 126 at this den. From another den took [female symbol] #110 + 2 young [female symbol] #109 + [male symbol] #125. both young by dip net. From another den an ad [adult] [female symbol] taken 3 times. [male symbol] Den:- At Creek Lake we had 4 traps set in a burrow system with at least 5 entrances. One trap took the ad [adult] [male symbol] 3 times, as if the [male symbol] was occupying a separate part of the interconnected burrow system.
