- [start clipping] TALLEST CUB IN CAPTIVITY YOUTHFUL GIANT STALKS VICTORIA IN QUEST OF NEWS Believed to be the tallest cub reporter in captivity, Charles Lionel Backler stalks Victoria, B.C., in pursuit of news for the Victoria Times. He is six feet eight inches in height, weighs 190 pounds and is 19 years old. He is shown here with Archie Wills, news editor of the Times, who had "planned to have him interview Primo Carnera and have a picture taken, but the Italian giant did not come to town. However, I sent him down to interview G.K. Chesterton and that made a coule of big boys together because Chesterton is six-four and weighs 300 pounds. Backler is a mighty good prospect and will be heard from," Wills says of his cub. [end clipping]
