- Ambystoma macrodactylum [long-toed salamander]
Sept [September] 26/42 [1942] Received tin containing
13 specimens taken from drying lake
at about Mile 12 on the Hope-Princeton
Road by Morris Neville [word crossed out] Nevile
on Sept [September] 24/42 [1942].
Most were found under stones beside
the lake "which is down to almost nothing".
They appear to be young of the year
and measure as follows -
1) 67 5) 66.5
2) 66 6) 60
3) 57 7) 66
4) 69
These were preserved + numbered 689.
One individual of this size group was
of a dark colour with little sign
of of the normal greenish-yellow pattern
on the back. In other respects it was [word crossed out]
resembled the others. It + 4 others
were kept alive.
One of the 13 specimens was larger
than the others measuring [space left blank] in
length; it was judged to be in
its second year.
