Up at 7. Weather clearing. Drove
along road on N. [north] side Lac du Bois. Stopped
to catch Rana Pretiosa [underlined] along margin. At
first abandoned farm building [George J.] Spencer
found rattle snake under board. Took it
alive. Drove to east of road where [Ian McTaggart] Cowan
shot a bear and 3 cubs up trees;
2 black + 1 brown. Skinned female on spot
then brought carcass, skin + cubs in car to
cabin. Returned along road to end of
"hanging valley" where we found an old

After lunch drove north to McQueen Lake +
Pass Lake. After supper searched for
owls without success. [Ian McTaggart] Cowan got 1 calliope
