[August] 28 [1943] Saturday. Heavy rain in night and in
morning. No prospect of clearing. Slight let-ups
in afternoon + evening. Beebe made up
grouse + siskin specimens. Writing + wood
carving to pass the time
[August] 29 [1943] Bright; clear + heavy gale blowing. Few
clouds only over Mt. Albert Edward. Spent
morning in camp taking photos, climbing to top of
nearby hill for picture of camp site + Mt.
Washington in background + cutting wood
After lunch hiked to Panther lake.
Saw 2 blue grouse, heard flicker, saw
winter wren, juncos, hawk (sp [species]?), ravens.
Collected 1 red squirrel + 1 thrush (hermit).
Clark + Brindle at Circle + Moat lakes
Prepared lunch + gear for hike to Mount
Albert Edward.
[August] 30 [1943] Much to our surprise + disappointment rain
in early A.M. [morning] - heavy fog; visibility nil.
Trip to mountain off.
Weasel found drowned in pail over which
hung fish landing net.
Left for Mt Washington 11:30. Lunch at
Paradise Meadows where Beebe, Clark + Brindle
were left. Collected marmot about
3 P.M. Back to Camp by 7:
