- 103 Mile Lake - Cariboo
July 2nd/42 [1942] - Examined lake by canoe
with J.A. Munro. About 50 acres in area:
shallow (see bottom anywhere) water clear.
Dominant vegetation. - Ceratophyllum, Potamogeton
pectinatus(?), Typha + Scirpus. Much filamentous
algae on surface.
Birds - Spotted Sandpiper, Killdeer, Greater yellow
legs (1 pr. [pair]) Pintail + 6 young (3 collected)
Widgeon + 3 young (joined by 1 downy pintail while
we [illegible word]) Coots, Barrow's golden eye, Red
wings [blackbird], Yellow heads [blackbird] + fledglings (1 collected)
Tule wrens (nest in Scirpus made principally of algae)
Eared grebe; 1 female, 2 males. Holboels [Holboell's]
grebe [aka Red-necked grebe] (nest + eggs). 1 female + 1 young
(collected) Loon. (feeding elsewhere)
Duck hawk seen on shore.
