- July 20, 1964. Refuge Cove.
Pouring with rain - small craft
warning in the Strait. Rode at anchor
in the bay all day.
The shore here interests me in its sharp
contrast with the QC [Queen Charlotte] Strait. No Metridium [underlined]
+ very limited algal growth. Plenty of
oysters intertidally, few Mytilus.
In P.M. [evening] moved over to the small cove
on the E [east] shore of Repulse Island. Went ashore
+ looked around a bit as skies cleared + the
wind rose steadily to some 25-30 knots E. [east]
Mammals:- No sign of deer on the Island but
squirrels + mink present + I suspect
Peromyscus The usual birds.
July 21, 1964 Repulse Island. We had a quiet
night with anchors fore + aft to prevent
swinging. Examined the bay at 2' [foot] tide.
Mya arenaria ab. [absent]
Protothaca staminea mod [moderate]
Tapes philippinarum ab. [absent]
