July 13/48 [1948]. Lac La Hache, B.C. [British Columbia]
Returned to Watson Lake + drove
6 Canvasback and 8 Bufflehead into
the same trap as yesterday then
lifted the trap + reset at a small
lake near mile 113. entered through
the corral there. The lake had
a brood of mallard, one of teal
+ 4 young canvasbacks.
# 14 [illegible word crossed out] pond further up the
hill contains several large
stands of Scirpus [underlined] + a dense
aquatic vegetation. Yellowheaded +
Redwing blackbirds abundant.
Waterfowl on the pond

1 [female symbol] Barrow's Goldeneye + 5
1 [female symbol] Ruddy + 5
1 [female symbol] Mallard + ? 1 pr [pair] Eared grebe + 1

Two weeks earlier the ruddy +
canvasback each had 1 young more.
July 14/48 [1948]. Lac La Hache.
Very wet overnight + we didn't get into
the field until noon. Made a trap set
at w. [west] end of Cummings Lake + returned
to camp. Made net about 10 ft [feet] across
