- We had trouble banding but finally
took most of the birds on the
lake.
Chimney Lake. Aug. [August] 9/48 [1948]
This morning we drove to
Williams lake to have some work
done on the car. In the meantime
we set a trap below the cattle
pens + attempted to capture the
several broods of Baldpate +
Canvasback there. We were
not very successful because
the birds all took to the reeds.
Dave Colls + I, however, got a
great infestation of cercarial [underlined]
for our trouble.
Chimney Lake Aug [August] 10, 1948.
Today started to be clear + hot
but ended in rain + thunder.
We worked Boitano Lake today
using fish net exclusively +
setting the offshore lead very
deep.
The results were most
gratifying but we saw none
of the pintails reported by
Ransome [Webster H. Ransom] earlier.
Took 18 yng [young] lesser scaup = 3 broods
72 " B. [Barrow's] Goldeneye
2 yng [young] redhead
