- Translated transcription: Not always does the little girl allow Haraldr to lead the way in a pinch; here it is Vébjörg herself who does not retreat.
From the great heights the powerful king of the clouds has caught sight of the lamb, and with a swish swooped down on it. But the lamb is Vébjörg’s own pet lamb and she determinedly attacks the eagle with whatever she can find close at hand. The eagle, reluctant to let its prey go, pecks at the child and tries to frighten her by wildly flapping its wings. To no avail, however; Vébjörg’s fearless little heart and loyal mind refuse to give up and in the end it is the eagle who has to let go of the lamb.
Disappointed and its pride wounded, the powerful bird flies off over the forest, climbing skyward once more with scolding shrieks, while it seeks redress in a new attack on easier prey.
Soon it can no longer be seen among the clouds, which close around it.
