- Translated transcription: There are many people at the shore. The dragon-headed ship will be launched from the beach where it has been standing for inspection, its sides have been well tarred, the mast erected and the large sail fastened to the thick crossbeam.
The many strong arms take hold, shoulders are strained; those at the rear for whom there is no room have to let it suffice to push with spear poles. Everyone wants to take part in the baptism in the salty sea, while their loud voices call on Njörðr to give the ship fair winds and Ægir to keep it from shipwreck.
The sea, foaming, retreats before the surging dragon ship, sending a long wake out to both sides, like a trail of bobbing sea snakes.
