in the dense vegetation along the
creek + a fairly even distribution
of sign on the hillsides but
deer are certainly not numerous.
It was reported to me that the [?]
are used to be superlative deer
hunting but with the opening of
the road hunters concentrated
+ by using a driving technique
using dogs ostensibly to get
grouse the deer were depleted.
The last 2 winters have
finished the job. Deer are more
scarce + blue grouse are not
nearly as numerous as they
should be.
There seems to be good reason
to doubt the professed sportsmanship
of the Olsen brothers. Several local
sportsmen resent the fact that
they have a cabin in good
hunting country up the lake +
refuse to take any one in
or even to tell them where it
is. This resentment may result
in some of the accusations I hear.
