with tail clamped down + back
slightly hunched, head down,
breaks into run for alder
thicket at edge of swamp.
5:30 South side trail.
One deer jumped but not seen,
1 doe adult, + two large bucks
one a very large fork + the
other a 3 pt [point], probably the same
as seen earlier feeding in
bracken patches high up. 1
deer not seen.
6:PM Doe + fawn feeding in hollow
ran out in alarm when I
flushed 3 grouse but could
not locate me. Doe + fawn
flushed at right angles but
rejoined each other after looking
about for several minutes
continued toward lakeshore.
Sundown at 6:25, tabanids
still out but not actively
attacking deer 20 minutes
after sundown.
Saw 2 year old doe going toward lake
When I was returning along
the trail I heard deer working
in the swamp, heard a
