Cephanomyia [Cephenemyia] [underlined]:-
44 present, ranging
in size from 10 mm [millimetres] to 35 mm. [millimetres]
+ in all stages between these.
There were none in the nostrils
but the crypts below the epiglottis
+ around the tonsils were
full of them. I took 3 from
the right lung but it is
quite possible they crawled
there after death had
ensued.
The youngest larvae are
whitish, the 60 mm [millimetre] size are
canary yellow with the bands
of dark setae. The 5/8 - 1 in [inch]
size are whitish again +
the large ones are progressively
darker brown. There were
two of the brownish ones in
this specimen. One of these
had rounded up 24 hours
after the death of the host, the
other one was beginning
to do so. Pupation took 48 hours
+ final dark color was not
assumed until 72 hrs [hours]. larvae of
35 mm. [millimetres] became a pupa of 22 mm. [millimetres]
Younger larvae wandered about for
4 days then of 6 of them 3 died + 3 attempted
