- Goldstream Lakes. Oct. [October] 31, 1939.
Beds: All deer were bedded down
by 7:30 A.M. after a clear
moonlight night. + none were
seen on the move again by
4:30 P.M.
All beds were in clumps
of trees though we found
several recently used beds
in the open on bluffs.
The larger buck was
bedded in the open on a
rounded hump not 10 feet
across in the middle of a
small open swamp.
Molt. Young buck was in winter
pelage as were all other deer
seen with two exceptions.
One yearling still had some
summer hair
The older buck had much
summer hair on the back
+ sides, also two small patches
of white hair over the left
kidney.
