- Downy Woodpecker.
On Oct 25, two of these were
encountered. A male was working
in a willow clump at the
roadside below Quarantine
Lake. A [female symbol] was collected while
it was working on a dying willow
near the western side of
Rocky Points. Both these were
in dense coniferous forests but
confining their activities to
the scattered deciduous trees.
Alder + willow were the
only ones they worked while
I watched them.
Stomach contents of # 5159 [male symbol]
1 small fly
2 soft bodied beetle larvae.
