- mile up the road and back,
marking the map.
Westwick Lake Sunday, May 29, 1955
Weather: rain (Vancouver type) all day.
Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] spent the morning on Kontiki
(the raft) adding the sacking cover.
Now it really looks like nothing
on earth. Nancy [Mahoney] and I
canoed down to Bowe's to see
Betty [Cox] about the dog. The girl
who owns it has decided to keep
it, but promised to look out
for another one for Nancy [Mahoney]. We
met Teddy [Bowe] and Bobby Bowe.
Teddy [Bowe] seems very quiet. He
and Betty [Cox] rounded up three
horses to take us riding, but then
it started to pour, so we went
inside and talked. When the
rest of the Bowe family arrived
by truck we left. There was
a good two inches of water
in the canoe (2 hours.) The
tent leaks in about six places
(each seam) luckily none of them
in the centre so we can sit and
rest in peace.
