Weather: Morning, clear and fine, clouding
over by noon, with a wind from a
general northerly direction.
Mary [F. Jackson] and Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] walked up to
Mary [F. Jackson]'s car, and crossed the wires
behind the dashboard. She left for
Vancouver about 11:00 A.M. This
morning Nancy [Mahoney] did a washing while
I scrubbed two of the tables that
arrived yesterday. The big one in
the work tent really has a lovely
finish. We're going to get some wax
the next time we're in town.
Nancy and I then walked around
Sorenson watching Grebes. We
discovered the nest of the Pintail
that Dr. [Mary?] Taylor flushed on the first
walk around the lake. It is about
100 yards this side of the dead
horse's head, just at the top of the
bank. It contained 8 warm eggs,
but none damp. We also saw 2 [male symbol] Surf Scoters.
Early (10:00) this morning I discovered
a weasel in his nest at the foot
of a tree up the back road behind
the camp. He has been tentatively
