- May 12. [1932] Put in the Rocker + spent
a solid 8 hrs [hours] rocking, with
negligible results getting
only about 10 c [cents] worth of gold
Saw Pileolated Warblers, Western
Tanagers, Song Sparrow, Purple
Finch
May 13. [1932] In morning walked up to
10 Mile Lake. This is a lake
of quite large area + has
several hundred ducks
nesting on it Widgeon +
Teal were the chief varieties
noted. Saw a bittern. Shot
a pair of Pigeon Hawks +
found their nest 25 ft [feet] up a spruce tree, It had
been used for several
years + was a somewhat flattened
mass of sticks, bark + leaves
about 18" in diam [diameter] + a foot
deep outside. 2 eggs only.
In the afternoon went into
Quesnel for the mail. Saw
another marmot near 11 Mile Lake.
