- Heavy tick infestation on
all rabbits.
May 31 [1932] Took red squirrel in steel
trap where rabbit had been
eaten. No more rabbits
today. Went to town for
the mail in the afternoon,
Vesper sparrows common.
June 1. [1932] One large [male symbol] rabbit +
another red squirrel taken.
Hiked up the Barkerville road
as far as 10 mi [mile] house then
followed a road to the
north for a couple of hours
Took a very fine pair of
spruce grouse.
Saw Olive backed thrushes
+ a hybrid Nuchal Sapsucker,
Several redstarts of both sexes
Saw a Western wood Pewee
taking nesting material into
a big spruce.
Was interested to see a
[female symbol] Rufous Hummingbird fighting
with a whitefaced hornet
