- 3 Holboell Grebe's nests with 2, 4 +
5 eggs resp. [respectively] collected the last clutch
Jumped a bittern from another nest
containing 4 very elongated eggs
took this clutch ofter photographing
the nest.
Flying squirrel came into camp
this evening again at 11 o'clock, just
lamped it + shot it. It is the [male symbol] +
probably mate of the [female symbol] taken the
other day. Examined its nest which
I found just behind camp + only
about 10 or 15 yds [yards] from the [female symbol]'s nest
Built in a Spruce about 15 ft [feet] from
the ground. The base was a platform
of twigs + the rest just a pile
of shredded bark about 7 in [inches] in
diam. [diameter] The squirrels spend quite
a lot of their time on the ground.
2 [female symbol] + 2 [male symbol] Rabbits examined all in
good shape, the [female symbol]'s nursing. Saw
several very yng. [young] rabbits in the
bush.
