- Description:
- Printed 1905 (光緖乙巳三十一年). This is a revised version of Zhang, Shaotang, 1829-1894, “Zeng guang Yan fang xin bian” (張紹棠, 1829-1894, 《増廣驗方新編》) and abridgement of Bao, Xiang'ao, active 19th century, “Yan fang xin bian” (鮑相璈, active 19th century, 《驗方新編》). Book includes a preface describing why this book is in Victoria, B.C and how Mong Kow Lee (李夢九) proposed purchasing the printing plates of the book and promoted its printing. The preface was written by Liang Cheng (梁誠), who was then the minister to the United States, Mexico, Peru, and Cuba.

- Digitized using the CANON DSLR (auto settings, Camera RAW files, 72 PPI) on the copy stand. Item was rested in an acrylic cradle and where necessary, pages held open with mylar strip. Item is fragile and tightly bound; many pages are difficult to read near the inner margin due to tight binding.
