  • Ambystoma [underlined] Richter Pass May 20, 1941. At summit of pass found pond by roadside in which larval salamanders were abundant. These were floating high in the water and were very easy to catch. Larvae 14 to 25 mm. [millimeters] and the large ones have all four limbs. Seem to be chunkier than gracile [underlined], have black spot in front of eye - greenish head, diurnal instead of nocturnal. Anarchist Mountain May 27, 1941. Very small larvae collected in backwater off stream near summit of road. May 30.[1941] Larvae collected in 2 ponds near road to White Lake. These wild and secretive - hugging the bottom. June 1. [1941] Large larvae taken in pond on Vernon common- age. Here Leech has observed A. macrodactylum [underlined]. Lac du Bois. June 9, 1941. [Clifford] Carl took larvae in two small lakes near here. Transforming larvae are A. macrodactylum [underlined].
