- but Mrs. Johnson (?) said she
was going in later to get the
car fixed, and would honk
as she went by. Nancy [Mahoney] and I,
later, were sitting by the tent
waiting, and a car dove up,
stopped, honked, and a woman
got out and started looking at
Yellowheads with a pair of
7-50 binoculars, so we roared
down the hill and climbed into
the car. When we got home,
after a lovely ride and all our
shopping, we discovered we'd never
seen her before, and vice versa.
However, she is bird-crazy, and
we became great friends. She
and her family and other people
unspecified go on various trips
to watch birds. Her son Wayne
(6 or 7 - just finished grave 1 by
correspondence) her daughter Linda
(9 months), and Mrs Minow.
This is their first spring here, and
they are building a house on
the lake up behind Minow's.
Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] got mountains of mail, as
usual - including his very own
hurricane lamp at last. My binoculars
arrived, and a large package of
cookies from home which were
