- NOTICE
To Mrs Pemberton-Carter, M.M.J.
By military necessity, you and your family are hereby ordered to live in the Civil Assembly Centre, Necessary preparations shall accordingly be made by you as follows:-
(I) To be present at the Columbia Country Club, 301 Great Western Road, by 8 a.m. 5 APR. 1943
(II) Your entrance numbers are:
(a) Head of Family: Mrs. M.M.J. Pemberton-Carter Entrance No. 2061
(b) Wife: Mrs…Entrances No…
(c) Children: Name…Entrances No…
(d) Wife: Name…Entrances No…
(III) Your properties shall be disposed of according to the following:-
(A) The commodities and others itemized hereunder are to be brought to the Civil Assembly Centre.
(a) Things of daily use, personal effects, cash, valuable papers, passport and other personal paper, etc. shall be packed up in small portable suitcase, etc., with each person can easily carry, and be conveyed by yourself on the day of assembly.
(b) Others:-
(1) Beddings; bedstead; mattress; sheets; blankets; quilts; and mosquito-nets adjustable to the bed.
(2) Clothings:-
For each person one or two suits for spring, summer, autumn, and winter wear; underwears; two or three pairs of shoes; four or five pairs of slippers.
(3) Table wares:-
For each person four or five dishes; cups; spoons; a vacuumbottle; knives and forks; napkins and table-cloths.
(4) Goods for sport and amusement; books and stocked provisions, if desired.
(5) Note:-
(a) The things mentioned above must be simple and unostentatious, strong and durable.
(b) The goods itemized above shall be packed up and labeled with the owner’s name, nationality, and the number of entrance with the Civil Assembly Centre and shall be sent to the Columbia Country Club, 301 Great Western Road, on 2 APR. 1943.
(c) The office for receiving the above will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on 2 APR. 1943.
(d) As no responsibility will be taken by the Japanese authorities for the damage which might be incurred during the transportation, careful packing is advised.
(e) the number of packages of goods permitted shall not exceed four for each person.
