Began active field work today with
a patrol to Henry House flats, Maligne
Canyon and Patricia Lake.
Range:- The Henry House range shows very
little usage as yet. It still has a
good stand of grass, primarily Koeleria
On the Pyramid Lake road there
is an area just at the top of
the hill in middle there is very
little killing damage to the
young aspens or barking on
the older trees
Bird Life:- Very scarce, absent from
the aspen areas, more common in
the Fir + spruce forests.
Game:- Elk sign is widespread but
I have seen no animals as yet.
Deer seem to be centred on
the flat around Edith + adjacent
lakes + around the [illegible word] + next
5 miles.

Fine day with S [South] wind up to 20 mph [miles per hour].
Temp [Temperature] at 9 aM. 7 [degree symbol] at noon 23 [degree symbol].
Drove Jim [James Simpson] down to Devona +
en route checked on the sheep
lands.
