- July 19/65 [1965] Campbell River + Quathiaski Cove.
Spent the day reprovisioning, doing laundry
+ bathing ourselves. Bad weather, 30 knot
S.E. [southeast] with showers.
On way to Quathiaski saw a single
young murrelet [underlined] among the many adults
It tried to dive without success.
July 20, 1965 Drew Harbour [underlined], Quadra Island.
Anchored for the night after a quick trip
into Campbell River for haircuts + a few purchases.
Caught 12 grilse [coho], 7 of which we shook off.
Found the anchorage immediately off the
Spit Park clogged with a log boom, another
lot were brought in during the night.
July 21, 1965. George Harbour, Cortez [Cortes] Island.
Sailed from Drew Harbour to Shark Spit
+ spent a very relaxed day in the sun
ashore. Found the campsite there in a
filthy condition + picked up a gasoline
receipt in the name of Pete Goven.
Marina Island is well populated with
Douglas Squirrels, saw 3 close too with
my field glasses. They are working on the
maple seeds. Deer sign abundant.
Found a dead Peromyscus.
Heard Squirrels ashore here, sound like
Douglas Squirrels but did not see them.
