The den was very large + we
were unable to dig it out completely.
In afternoon worked down
the north road, shot a cow elk
3 yrs [years] - pregnant - at Wilby's +
set 2 coyote traps at it.
Examined elk shot 2 days ago
at least 1 coyote, + an unknown
number of eagles crows + magpies
had removed about 50 lbs [pounds] of meat.
Census [underlined] In the 13 mile return trip
counted Total
Elk - 66 [number crossed out] 51 72.
Deer 23 35
Photos. Took 35 mm. [millimetre] black + white 2 shots at
coyote den.

aspen, 1 shot Bert [Pfeiffer] setting coyote
trap.

Today worked down the valley in
the morning visiting our coyote
traps on Moberly Flats. Had
lunch by the beaver pond. This was
a hive of small bird activity with
white crowned, Lincoln, Savannah + Song
sparrows in numbers, Juncos
