Divide Cr. [Creek], Cabin. July 9, 1943.
A heavy thunderstorm came on
late yesterday evening with a violent
south wind. However what is left
of this cabin kept us relatively dry.
The day dawned fine but there were
several light showers.
During the morning I climbed the
hill directly west of the cabin +
shot an aged dry ewe bighorn
+ dragged it down to the creek.
Spent the afternoon working on
it.
Game seen Sheep 14 ewes 5 lambs.
Goat 4
Deer 2.
Indianhead Cabin July 10/43 [1943]
Snowed fitfully all morning, our
horses left us for their winter range
at Scotch camp + held us up for
a few hours. Arrived here in warm
sunshine at 3 P.M.
Most of the way down the grade
of Peters Creek is heavily timbered
in spruce + lower down Pine.
Beautiful grassland high up on both
sides here + there. Mostly goat range.
Marten sign in the timber
grizzly sign, a goat kill
Deer abundant here have seen
4 bucks + 2 does. [Warden Charles] Philips says a
few winter here [sentence crossed out]. Lots of moose
