The area west of Banff in the
Bow Valley is still browsed to
excess - if the herd was cut
down to 50% it would still be
none too small.
Discuss question of fur harvest. [all underlined]
Banff. June 9/44 [1944]
Today went up Healy Creek +
climbed part way up Mt [Mount] Bourgeau
Very little goat sign but sign
of sheep + great quantities of elk sign.
The whole range stank of elk.
On the whole though the range
is still in good condition
Yesterday worked west to 18 mile
hunting for elk calves without
success. Saw 9 moose
9 elk
3 deer
2 coyote.
Today saw:- 5 moose
17 elk.
2 deer
2 coyote.
