  • Sandhill Crane. [underlined] Chimney Lake. Aug [August] 3, 1948. Garry [Cowan] + I had a wonderful view this morning of a pair of adult cranes. They were feeding in the grassy glades on the S [south] shore of the lake at its east end. - upon seeing us trumpeted beautifully + walked two + fro before taking off. The bird taken to be the [male symbol] was considerably larger + had a deeper voice than its mate.
