  • 4 sprung. Shot [female symbol] Williamson Sapsucker [underlined] + Olive backed Thrus [underlined] , caught young Kildeer [Killdeer] [underlined] - quite well grown + out of nest. May 23 [1930] Fine all day Went up Gold Creek. Thick Spruce + Fir woods. Found Flying squirrels nest, 3 1/2 ft [feet] off the ground in hollow burned in a small fir tree. Nest made entirely of black "Old man's Beard" moss + lined with dry grass, [female symbol] + 3 young taken. 3 yng [young] very small + naked. Drove [male symbol] Flying squirrel from hole in stump + Mr [Hamilton Mack] Laing shot it. Rocky Mt [Mountain] Jays [underlined], Olive sided Flycatcher + Townsend's [underlined] Warbler seen [underlined]. Townsends Warbler singing like Black throated gray Warbler Stomach of [female symbol] Flying squirrel full of same moss as the nest was made of. Bear sign examined contained Vegetation such as grass lupine etc [etcetera]. May 24. [1930] Rain all day. Shot [male symbol] badger (23 1/2 lbs [pounds]) as
