  • Crofton Oct. [October] 8/39 [1939] . Parasites [underlined] About 1 tick in ten was dead + had been dead for an appreciable time. Dead examined were all nymphs + adults - possibly because the small size of the larvae would make the dead ones almost invisible. Onchocerca. [underlined] About 4 to 5 + individuals in the shanks of each of the four legs. These worms were short not over 3 inches in length in most cases + nothing like as large as they are later in the year. Cysticercus tenuicollis. [underlined] Two on mesentery of greater omentum small one 5 mm [millimetres] in diam. [diameter]. Large one 12 mm [millimetres] in diam. [diameter] Eshinococcus granulosus. In addition one very large + one smaller cyst imbedded in the centre of the left lung. The larger one raised somewhat above the level of the surrounding tissue. (See photographs.
