find Mr Andy Olsen at home
but had no luck.
Aug [August] 22/50 [1950] Lake Cowichan
In early morning worked the
burned eastern end of Bald Mt. [Mountain] Saw
no deer + few signs of recent presence
but put up 16 grouse.
Went to Duncan to get Jim [James] Bendell +
found that his outfit was not yet in
from Campbell River.
Rain started in late afternoon +
persists.

Patrolled along Hill 60 road to its
highest point at the Forestry lookout
where I chatted with Mr Coleman,
the watchman. He reported a
few deer around, lots of grouse
earlier but now less obvious
I was amazed at the size of the
deforested part of the Chemanius
watershed.
In the evening Andy Olson
came to the cabin + reported
