Goose Island Banks. July 9 1939
Pat [Patrick Waldyve Martin] + Mr [T.T.] McCabe shot a small
female some 20 miles offshore.
When first seen it was lying
on its back sleeping with
all four flippers in the air.
Stomach contained remains
of two herring + a number
of different [word crossed out] round worms of
at least two types.
A local fisherman reports
that one of his compatriots
shot a fur seal on the
same banks some 3 weeks
previously.
