- Magnolia Warbler
June 28-July 2, 1936 10 Mile Lake, Quesnel, B.C.
Next to the Redstart this is
the most abund [abundant] warbler here. Its
song consists of 5 syllables "Swee-
swee-swee-whitl-swee. I took a
[male symbol] at our camp at 9 AM on June 30
and by 7 AM on July 1 its territory
was reoccupied by another [male symbol].
So far have not seen a [female symbol].
The birds feed in the second
growth aspen + willow for
the most part but occassionally [occasionally]
hunt in the spruce + balsam,
but always about 15-20 feet
from the ground. Not heard
at river level at Quesnel.
July 5, 1936 10 Mile Lake. This morning
the territory again had a singing
male after 4 days interval. This
time I took both birds.
