Buttons, Dunning's fallow buck
is molting now, molt follows
regular pattern starting on
head + neck + proceeding posterially
Velvet shed on Aug [August] 25, all
stripped off in a single day.
Makes coughing noise in rutting
season.
Nov. 30 [date crossed out] Dec [December] 6, 1939. Victoria
young doe in heat Nov [November] 30,
old doe Dec. [December] 6. One of the Park
employees reported seeing the coast
buck pursuing the young doe
when she was in heat, but
though the old doe came close
around him + exhibited every
sign of her condition the
buck paid no attention to
her. The coast doe chased
her away, striking with her
fore feet.
Jan. [January] 22, 1939. Victoria
Young doe on again Jan [January] 6, old
doe Jan. [January] 20. Buck paid no attention
but fallow doe squatted when attacked
by coast doe.
Feb. [February] 4. Young doe on and possibly served
by coast buck on Jan. [January] 29. over
