Lulu Island B.C. [British Columbia] [all underlined] March 29 1924
About 8 or 10 Seen feeding in
amongst grass + weeds along slough
near Road 8 Lulu Is [Island]. April [word crossed out] March
29th, 1924. Alan + I first saw
two flying high in the air. I called
them + they turned + came down
close to me in the weeds. I collected
five birds with the auxiliary tarsal
4 [male symbol] + 1 [female symbol] all were moulting.
Lulu Is. [Island] B.C. [British Columbia] Dec [December] 1937.
In company with Bob Luscher, saw
several Longspurs in same field
as above. Collected 2. [male symbol] + [female symbol]. Luscher
collected a third. All were in winter
plumage.
Lulu Is [Island] B.C. [British Columbia] April 17. 1940.
Dull. In company with Bob Luscher
on right hand field (stubble) ahead
of Blundell Rd. saw two longspurs
running on ground. Collected one
(#2595) which proved to be a [male symbol]
in almost full breeding plumage
altho [although] testes only measured 2mm [millimeters].
This bird was very fat. Stomach
preserved for check on food.
