Uria troile [word crossed out] aalge [written above crossed out word] californica.
Jan. [January] 17. 1931. Several small flocks
of from 3 to 10 birds seen near
Fishermans Cove in Howe Sound. A juv [juvenile] [female symbol]
taken. Stomach contained 8 smelt
measuring from 130 to 145 mm. [millimeters] Birds wgt. [weight] 2 lb [pounds] 8 oz. [ounces]
Very large colony nest at
O.C.J. B.C. [British Columbia] [Syd] Darcus states
Mud Bay. Ladner B.C. [British Columbia] Aug [August] 14. 1940
In company with Bob Luscher found
seven Murres washed up on
beach of these three were saved
the others being too far gone to
be worth preserving. Skinned all
three on the beach. Th [crossed out] All seven
were in breeding plumage + were
probably birds caught in fishermans
nets + drowned as on dissection
all organs were found normal
+ in two stomachs were full of fish
(partly digested). My two birds
were found to be adult [male symbol] + [female symbol].
None were seen alive.
