1922 Burn - Bluffs.
Bitter Cress, Montia parvifolium [underlined]
Hieraceum [Hieracium] albiflorum [underlined], salal,
Tarweed (Madia exiguua [exigua] [underlined]) Hieraceum [Hieracium]
sp. [species] are the abundant species
along with several species of
fine leaved grasses. There are
scattered plants of the yellow
composite found at Cowichan
Lake [space left blank] and some
of the [words crossed out] Hosackia parviflora, [underlined]
Antennaria [underlined] [space left blank] + yarrow.
Fir, pine + bearberry are
common. Salal + berberis
dominant.
Very little of this assemblage
is eaten. The yellow Hieraceum [Hieracium] [underlined]
to a slight extent + the
grasses in the early spring
are all that I have noticed
eaten of the summer
growth - Fir, berberis +
salal provides the year round
browse.
