- The organization of the game situation here
is about this. There are a series of
+ these make private arrangements
for the shooting rights on individual areas.
All game is the property of the land
holder. In the case of public land
the local gov't [government] employees have first access
+ then the people of the local parish.
According to the revised regulation in
parliament now all of Finland upon
which there is to be hunting must be
organized into hunting club territories.
Any areas not so organized in 3 years
will be closed to hunting. To be a member
of a club a sportsman usually has to
pay a small fee ($4.00+/-). Depending on
the need for management the member
is often required by his terms of
membership to give 3 days work a year
to management. The biologists are
working out effective ways of using
this manpower. In other clubs
predator control by bounty, predator
contests or drivers are part of the effort.
In other clubs birds or hares are bought
+ liberated. The hunter can hunt only
on his clubs area. Many of the
hunters clubs require a member to report
known violations or lose his membership.
