July 15/47 [1947]
Worked in doors in AM. [morning] in PM [afternoon] made
a reconnaissance across the river
before supper + after supper until 1:30
AM. [morning] worked traps on lakes 1 + 3.
(See Ondatra, diagram) Took 5
rats alive for tagging, another one drowned
itself, 3 [male symbol]'s, 3 [female symbol]'s. also took one foot
Waterfowl:- 130 widgeon , 1 flock.
2 surf scoters.
Reindeer Station. July 16/47 [1947].
We were exhausted today after
several hard days with little
sleep + took it easy.
" July 17/47 [1947]
In morning worked on camp chores
+ trying to improvise a net to
substitute for our items that
have not arrived. In afternoon
we went up the river + examined
the lake on the west [word crossed out] east side about
2 miles from here. Found beaver
sign + a little muskrat sign, also
a pair of swan with 4 cygnets.
1 drake surf scoter.
Motor was acting up + I had to
spend the evening working on it.
