- Ochotona.
Sicamous, B.C. [British Columbia] June 30, 1937
Took two [male symbol]'s in a slide
just east of the village.
Mt. [Mount] Revelstoke, B.C. [British Columbia] July 1, 1937
Pikas abundant in
the slides at about 6000 ft [feet].
Here I found them feeding
largely on the little
alpine saxifrage Spirea pectinata [inserted above] that forms
large mats on all the hillsides.
A female taken was nursing
young.
Mt. [Mount] Revelstoke July 4, 1937.
After passing a slide
below camp 6 times +
neither seeing nor hearing
conies I happened to
be standing beside the
slide when a golden
eagle flew over.
Immediately the conies
started to give their alarm
call.
In a last winters pile
I found 90% balsam
tips + 10% red heather.
