  • Westwick Lake Friday, July 29, 1955 Weather: thunder showers I went to town with Bill Swan, the head cowboy from Alkali, and Betty [Cox] early this morning; and shopped for both camps. I watched grebes in the afternoon, and Nancy worked on the canoe. The waders are really essential, as I was so cold when I left the blind that I couldn't write. I noticed a small flock (10-12) of bluebirds in the trees and on the ground around the tent, feeding. Westwick Lake Saturday, July 30, 1955 Weather: cloudy with showers Ron McKie arrived at noon and told us that we would be wanted for banding after all. Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] told Nancy [Mahoney] yesterday that we probably wouldn't. In the afternoon we drove down to Lac La Hache to pick up Ron [McKie]'s equipment. We attended a Bar- B-Q [barbeque] dance at the double-T-. Ron [McKie] was a big hit with his bagpipes. Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] saw a Rufus [rufous] hummingbird and Nancy [Mahoney] saw a white breasted nuthatch.
