Creator Transcript
  • Summer 1936.[Start of Journal] I. McT.Cowan [Ian McTaggart Cowan] 1936 Enroute. June 18 Left Vancouver 9 A.M. - had uneventful run to Merritt where we stopped for the night at 8. o'clock. Road good all the way except for first 4 or 5 miles between Spences Bridge + Merritt. June 19. Left Merritt 9 AM. Road between there + Princeton fascinating. A succession of lakes, mostly small + with reedy shores. Saw ducks + Black terns on several of them. On the road we saw two buck mule deer. Some wonderful collecting ground. Road Princeton to Keremeos awful + uninteresting. At Keremeos we took the Richter Pass "road" to Osoyoos. Similkameen has some nice looking river bottom land - ought to be good for chats etc [etcetera]. Descending E [east] side of the pass took a fine [male symbol] quail. 11 miles up the Anarchist Mt [Mountain] road from Osoyoos saw a doe White tail deer. Camped at Creek on top - 17 miles up. At 5:30.
