Spent the day in town writing letters
+ getting our supplies checked in
Aklavik. July 20/47 [1947]
Spent most of the day letter writing
but in the evening spent 6 hours on
the #3 Lake of [Bert] Boxer's area + set
out 8 line traps. This lake has
fallen until it is now nowhere
more than 3 or 4 ft [feet] deep + the
former lake consists of 3
disconnected, shallow lakelets
all of which will certainly freeze out.
Round lake has maintained its level
+ so also has 4, the latter is down
perhaps 2 ft [feet] from when we were
last on it, but it has plenty of
depth over a large part of its area
